DRAGER WINS GRAND CHAMPION — Bridgeport’s Ethan Drager’s steer Walnut won the grand champion at the Wise County Youth Fair Monday. Drager’s steer was the champion in the exotic class before winning the grand prize.

YOUTH FAIR TUESDAY — The Wise County Youth Fair continues today at the Wise County Fairgrounds with the breeding dairy goat show at 10 a.m. Meat pen rabbits will be judged at 1 followed by breeding rabbits. The longhorn show (steers, followed by heifers) is also at 1. The breeding swine show is at 4. 4-H Parade of Fashion is at 6:30.

SHOOTING VICTIMS IDENTIFIED — The two people found dead in a travel trailer between Alvord and Sunset last Thursday have been identified. Wise County Sheriff Lane Akin said the female victim has been identified as Brittany Scruggs, 29, of Sunset. The male victim, who Akin said died from an apparent self-inflicted wound, was identified as Corey Cameron Brooks, 28, also of Sunset. Graveside service for Scruggs is noon Wednesday at Sunset Cemetery. White Family Funeral Home in Bowie is handling arrangements.

GIRLS BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS — The Bridgeport Sissies (22-8) will face No. 2 Canyon in the 4A Region I final tonight at 6:30 at Childress High School. The Victory Christian Academy Patriots (17-2) will battle Georgetown Grace Academy in the TCAF Division II state semifinals at 7 p.m. at Waco Parkview Academy.

BOYS BASKETBALL PLAYOFFS — The No. 10 Decatur Eagles (24-6) will face No. 7 Seminole in the 4A Region I semifinals tonight at 6:30 at Howard Payne University in Brownwood. The No. 1 Slidell Greyhounds (25-3) will play Lometa in the 1A Region III semifinals at 7:30 p.m. at Glen Rose High School.

NO COALITION MEETING — The Wise County Community Coalition will not meet next week at its regular-scheduled meeting time. The group hopes to continue meeting again in April.

U.S. 380 ROAD WORK — The U.S. 380 eastbound right lane will be closed from U.S. 81/287 to County Road 2320 for maintenance activities 7 a.m.-5 p.m. daily through Friday, weather permitting. Motorists should expect delays.

OUTPATIENT CLINIC CLOSED — Due to water damage from the recent winter storm, the VA North Texas Healthcare System Outpatient Clinic in Fort Worth will be closed until at least March 8. Veteran patients with appointments during this time period will be contacted to discuss rescheduling and possible alternatives.

SERVICE for Imogene Fox, 88, of Decatur is pending at Hawkins-Decatur.

MASS of Christian burial for Altagracia Maya, 80, of Graford is 11 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Mineral Wells with burial at Graford Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Graford Lions Club with rosary said at 7 p.m. Hawkins-Bridgeport is handling arrangements.

FUNERAL for Tommy Hudson, 73, of Bridgeport is 2 p.m. Saturday at Grace Fellowship Church in Paradise with burial at East Bridgeport Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at Hawkins-Bridgeport.

SERVICE for Lynn “Buster” Taylor, 74, of Chico is 11 a.m. Saturday at Hudson & Torres Family Funeral Home in Bridgeport with burial at Chico Cemetery. Visitation is 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

SERVICE for Maria Montero, 89, of Bridgeport is 6 p.m. Thursday at Hudson & Torres. An open visitation is 12-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
