TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (Seminoles.com) – The Florida State Volleyball Team looks to build on its three-match win streak as it heads to Orlando, Fla., to face Georgia, UCF and FGCU in the UCF Invitational held Sept. 9-11 at The Venue at UCF.
FSU (4-1) first faces Georgia (3-3) on Thursday at 6 p.m. It then plays host UCF (2-4) on Friday at 7:30 p.m. on ESPN+, and finishes the tournament battling FGCU (6-0) on Saturday at 5:30 p.m.
The Seminoles are riding high after a complete performance last week at the FSU Invitational, where they swept Tulane, Samford and VCU. Redshirt junior outside hitter Morgan Chacon, junior middle blocker Emma Clothier and sophomore right-side hitter Sydney Conley took home all-tournament team honors.
FSU owns a 15-10 all-time record vs. Georgia, 32-8 vs. UCF and 1-0 vs. FGCU. Last year, the Seminoles came back from a 2-0 hole to defeat the Knights, 3-2, at Tully Gym behind 13 kills and four blocks from Clothier.
Clothier ranks first in the ACC and 36th nationally averaging 0.60 aces per set. The Seminoles rank 20th nationally with 2.13 aces per set, which also ranks first in the ACC.
Chacon led the Seminoles last week in kills (23), kills per set (2.56), service aces (7; co-led with Clothier) and points (32.5). Her six service aces against Samford were the most by a Seminole since 2011.
