The Irish in St. Louis

6:30-8 p.m. at the Edwardsville Public Library. Patrick Murphy introduces you to priests and gangsters, artists and revolutionaries, entrepreneurs and entertainers. He takes you to the rough and tumble neighborhoods of 19th century Kerry Patch and Dogtown, where immigrants and their children forged paths into the city’s mainstream while preserving their Irish identity.

American Legion Post 199 July 4th Celebration

4 p.m. at the Edwardsville American Legion Post 199 at 58 South State Street Rt. 157, Edwardsville. Hot dogs, brats, pulled pork sandwiches, chips, beverages and snow cones will be served. The Edwardsville Municipal Band will begin at 7 p.m. Fireworks will start at dusk. Knights of Columbus BBQ

11:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus at 7132 Marine Road in Edwardsville, Rt. 143. The menu consists of pulled pork, ribs, chicken, pork steaks and brats. Sides are baked beans, cole slaw, macaroni salad and apple sauce. 

Chicken Dinner

11 a.m. – 3 p.m. at Edwardsville Moose Lodge at 7371 Marine Road, Rt. 143. Dinners are $10 for adults and $5 for children 10 and under. With the help of some volunteers, kids will learn what it’s like to explore space and the Apollo technology used on earth today.
