WATERVILLE — An associate vice president for the Northern Light Health system is being promoted to become president of Northern Light Inland Hospital in Waterville and the adjacent Northern Light Continuing Care Lakewood, the health system announced Tuesday.
Tricia Mercer will assume her new role May 9 and also take on the title of senior vice president of Northern Light Health, which is one of the largest health systems in the state.
The president and CEO of Northern Light Health, Tim Dentry, said in a news release that, “Tricia has excellent health care experience, and we’re excited that she is already part of the Northern Light team, having served as associate vice president of our Medical Group Operations since 2019. She has had great success with improving access to care (and) enhancing provider engagement, and she is a proud Mainer who is dedicated to community involvement.”
Mercer replaces Terri Vieira, whose retirement was announced in December.
“The appointment means that as our new president, Tricia will oversee the leadership and operations of the hospital, medical practices and the continuing care center,” said Sara Barry, a spokeswoman for Northern Light Health.
“She will also lead our engagement in the community so that we can continue to contribute to the overall well-being of the Waterville area,” Barry said.
Mercer grew up in Dover-Foxcroft and graduated from Foxcroft Academy. She is a fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and earned an MBA in health care management. Mercer was previously the executive director of a medical group in New York, an administrator at a hospital in Pittsburgh and the CEO of a medical billing company.
“I look forward to joining the Inland/Lakewood family and continuing to help Northern Light meet its mission to improve the health of the people and communities we serve,” Mercer said in the release. “I recognize and value the caring culture we have and I’m proud of how staff go above and beyond to make health care work for our patients and residents every day.”
