
Football shines in the fall, but other athletes are starring in their sports throughout their seasons.
Here’s a look at who stood out last week around the Augusta area:
SOFTBALL
Tahjae Hawes, Cross Creek – She was 3-for-3 with a HR and three RBIs and threw a no-hitter with seven strikeouts against Richmond Academy on Thursday.
Jada Akeson, Cross Creek – Akeson went 3-for-4 with two singles, a double and three RBIs against Richmond Academy on Thursday afternoon.
Cassidy Jenkins, Lakeside — Jenkins went 8-for-9 with a home run and four RBI in a double header sweep over Alcovy on Thursday.
Arieonna Booker, Josey – Booker hit a single and a double against Putnam County on Tuesday.
Amari Bonner, Josey – Bonner caught a player stealing, scored a run and made a double play against Putnam county on Tuesday
CROSS COUNTRY
Malik Lewis, Cross Creek – Lewis finished eighth out of 110 runners at the Athens Academy home meet on Saturday.
Trevin Preville, Cross Creek — Finished top 30 at the Athens Academy home meet to get Cross Creek a 6th place finish out of seven teams.
Jiovanni Solis, Cross Creek – Solis also grabbed a top-30 finish at the Athens Academy home meet. The Razorbacks will compete in Aiken, S.C. next week.
Simone Rojas, Evans — Rojas placed 4th (18:56.07) at the AT&T Starr’s Mill Panther XC Meet on Saturday. Evans travels to Carrollton, Ga. for the Carrollton Orthopaedic Invitational next week.
Volleyball
Koeda Hayes, Davidson — Hayes had 11 digs in Davidson’s 2-0 win over Cross Creek on Thursday. The Titans host AR Johnson on Tuesday, Sept. 7.
Kira Rojas, Evans — Rojas had 13 digs in the Knight’s loss to North Augusta on Thursday. Evans hosts Richmond Academy on Tuesday.
Elizabeth Nesbit, Augusta Prep — Nesbit had 17 assists in Augusta Prep’s 3-1 loss to Bethlehem Christian Academy on Thursday. The Cavaliers travel to Wardlaw Academy on Tuesday.
