The senior deleted more than eight seconds off her previous best during the run.
Gilman and freshman Cole Lindhorst posted a sweep of the top-two spots in the men’s 1500-meter race, as Gilman swung to the outside and used a late push to edge Lindhorst for the win. Gilman, in his first outdoor race at the collegiate level, posted a time of 3:45.53 to debut in 11th on the Academy’s all-time standings, while Lindhorst posted a debut of 3:46.89 to enter the all-time standings at 19th. Senior Scott Johnson, in his first outdoor race since May 2019, also placed within the top half of the field, as he posted a time of 3:49.41 to finish seventh.
Air Force returns to action with a pair of meets next weekend. The multi-event athletes travel to Tucson, Ariz., for the annual Jim Click Decathlon on April 8-9, while the rest of the team travels to Boulder for the Colorado Invitational on April 9-10.
